Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro that begins tonight to enhance cooperation among the member countries. The 17th edition of BRICS summit will take up issues of global governance reforms, climate change challenges, Artificial Intelligence among other things.

The Summit will drive a framework to collaborate on expanding cooperation in the areas of health, ethical use of Artificial Intelligence to solve global problems, reform multilateral banks to meet the financial needs of meeting the challenge of climate change and also want to foster a balanced and inclusive global governance.

During the Summit the Prime Minister is also likely to hold bilateral meetings with other leaders on the sidelines. After the two days Summit, a bilateral visit to Brasilia will follow the first by an Indian Prime Minister in nearly six decades.

He will  also hold meetings with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on deepening strategic ties between the two nations.
