Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah today laid the foundation stone of Tribhuvan Sahkari University, India’s first national cooperative university, in Anand, Gujarat. The university aims to institutionalize education and research in the cooperative sector.
The university will focus on policy making, data analysis, cooperative development strategies, and sector research to strengthen India’s cooperative movement. The Home Minister described it as a key step toward sustainable growth.
Since the Ministry of Cooperation’s inception, 60 initiatives have been launched to uplift rural communities. The Home Minister highlighted the ministry’s efforts in empowering millions through cooperative development.
With over 40 lakh workers joining the cooperative movement, the university will train skilled employees as well as future leaders inspired by cooperative pioneer Tribhuvan Bhai.
During the event in Anand, the Shah also unveiled a bilingual cooperation module for school students, developed in collaboration with NCERT, to foster awareness of cooperative principles among youth.
