To boost the youth empowerment and sports infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh’s tribal belt, Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut laid the foundation stone for multiple developmental projects in Kaza, Lahaul and Spiti, on Saturday.
The projects include a high-altitude sports training centre, an international-standard ice hockey rink, a cricket ground, and a sports pavilion. With a total outlay of ₹74 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), the initiative aims to promote skill-building and athletic excellence in one of the country’s most remote regions.
The dignitaries also visited the ancient Kee Monastery, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage and the government’s focus on holistic development balancing sports, tourism, and tradition.
Posting on social media platform X, Kiren Rijiju said the projects reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to develop border regions and make Kaza a hub for winter sports and adventure tourism.
MP Kangana Ranaut, also sharing updates in Hindi on X, expressed pride in contributing to a project that strengthens the region’s infrastructure while providing platforms for young talent in Spiti Valley.
