Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin appealed to External Affairs Minister Dr.S.Jaishankar to take immediate diplomatic measures to facilitate the safe return of Tamilnadu fishermen stranded in Iran.

In a letter he ascertained that 651 fishermen from Tamilnadu belonging to the districts of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram are currently in Iran facing considerable hardship due to the escalation of conflict in the region and are unable to return. Even after declaration of ceasefire with the mediation of US President Donald Trump, the situation in the Iran region is not stable.
