India signed off in style at the Asian Para-Badminton Championships 2025, racking up a record 27 medals – including four golds – in their best-ever showing at the continental meet held in Thailand from 17-22 June 2025.
Leading the charge was Paralympic champion Nitesh Kumar, who returned with a stunning hat-trick of golds – clinching titles in men’s singles SL3, men’s doubles SL3-SL4 (with Sukant Kadam), and mixed doubles SL3-SU5 (with Thulasimathi Murugesan).
Rising star Manisha Ramadass stole the spotlight in women’s singles SU5, pulling off a sensational win over China’s two-time Paralympic champion Yang Qiu Xia to clinch India’s fourth gold medal at the event.
India stamped its authority in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 category, sweeping all three podium spots. Kumar and Murugesan grabbed gold, Ruthick Raghupathi and Manasi Joshi claimed silver, while Chirag Baretha and Mandeep Kaur settled for bronze.
With 10 silver and 13 bronze to go along with the golds, the Indian contingent returned home with their highest-ever medal count in the competition – a performance that firmly places them among Asia’s para-badminton elite.
