England announces the squad for the first Test against India

England have named their team for the first test of the five-match Rothesay Test series against India. England retained Ollie Pope instead of Jacob Bethell while Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse return to the team for the match in Leeds.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Woakes returns to the team for the first time since December. Brydon Carse, having featured in his previous five Tests in Pakistan and New Zealand, will get the opportunity to impress on home turf for the first time. Other notable names in the squad include top-order batsmen Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Joe Root.

All rounder Ben Stokes-led England team will face India in the first test on Friday.
