Security forces killed three high-ranking Naxal commanders, including a central committee member on 17 June 2025. The operation took place in the dense forests of Maredpalli near the Andhra Pradesh–Chhattisgarh border in Sukma district.

According to sources, Naxalite leaders Chalapathi and Aruna were killed in the encounter. The operation was carried out by Andhra Pradesh’s special force, the Greyhounds. A large quantity of weapons has been recovered from the site. The operation remains underway, with security forces continuing combing efforts in the area.

The encounter is seen as a significant blow to the Naxal network, as several top commanders of the group have been killed.
