General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), felicitated the Indian Army mountaineering teams for their extraordinary achievements. The teams successfully summited the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, on May 27, 2025, and India’s highest peak, Kanchenjunga, on May 19, 2025.

A team of 22 Indian Army personnel scaled Mount Everest, marking not only the largest ever Indian Army contingent to summit the peak, but also the largest contingent ever to reach the summit in a single day. Notably, the team included two personnel who achieved this feat for the second time.

Kanchenjunga was summited by a joint team of five Indian Army and four Nepali Army personnel, marking the first-ever Indian Army and Nepali Army joint expedition to the challenging peak. This historic achievement stands as a testament to the enduring India–Nepal friendship and a proud milestone in the military mountaineering history of both nations.
