Delegation proposes to host 2027 ISSF World Championships in Daegu, Korea

ISSF Executive Member Dalgon Lee accompanied the Deputy Mayor of Daegu Seongjoo Hong and the President of Daegu Sports Council Park Yougki, as they met ISSF President Luciano Rossi and Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di Giacomo to discuss their project to bring ISSF’s top event to what is known as Korea’s Global Sport City.

Daegu is a highly experienced organiser of international sport, having hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2002, the Summer Universiade in 2003, the IAAF World Championship in Athletics in 2011 while in shooting, Daegu organised the 2015 CISM Military World Games as well as the 2022 Asian Airgun Championships.

Daegu has made a multi-million dollar investment to build a brand new Daegu International Shooting Range, to the highest ISSF standards, opening in June 2027. The facility, welcoming all disciplines, will have a total floor area of 20,609 square metres on a site area of 191,300 square metres.

The 10 m Hall will have 80 firing points, the 25m Hall 60 and the 50 m Hall 80, while the shotgun range offers 5 firing points. The finals hall can accommodate 10, 15 and 10 firing points respectively for the 10m, 25m and 50m events.

The Daegu bid has the full support of the Korean central government as well as the Korean Sport authorities and National Olympic Committee.
