The Indian Army continues to lead the large-scale flood relief operations in Manipur, as heavy rainfall and rising water levels disrupt life across Imphal Valley and adjoining areas. Operating under the humanitarian mission ‘Operation Jal Rahat-2’, Army personnel have been working relentlessly since May 31, 2025, to aid the flood-affected population.

Over 1,560 people have been evacuated so far from severely impacted localities. Among the major rescue efforts:

In Wangkhei, 584 people were rescued. At JNIMS Hospital, 569 individuals, including 15 critical medical patients, were safely evacuated.

In Khitai Chingangbam Leikai, 110 people were moved to safety. 115 individuals were rescued from Laishram Leikai, 65 from Lamlong, and 75 from Heinjang, where rescue teams battled fast-moving floodwaters following a bund breach on the Imphal river.

Demonstrating their commitment to inclusive rescue efforts, the Army also evacuated three specially-abled adults from various locations.

Equipped with rescue boats, medical aid teams, and essential relief supplies, Army units are operating in close coordination with Assam Rifles, NDRF, SDRF, and civil administration, ensuring a rapid, multi-agency response to the disaster.

Despite challenging terrain and high-risk flood zones, the Indian Army remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard lives and restore normalcy in Manipur.
