President Donald Trump on Wednesday described Chinese President Xi Jinping as “very tough” and “extremely hard to make a deal with”. His comments come just days after accusing Beijing of violating a trade agreement, further underscoring the ongoing tensions in bilateral relations.

Trump’s remarks were made on Truth Social, where he expressed continued affection for President Xi but emphasized the challenges in negotiating with China.

Amid the ongoing trade war between the United States and China, the leaders of both countries are engaging in efforts to build a healthy and stable bilateral relationship.

On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed the new U.S. Ambassador to China, David Perdue. Wang emphasized the critical juncture in China-U.S. relations, stressing that equality, respect, dialogue, and cooperation are essential for progress.
