India and Angola Sign MoU to strengthen Ayurveda and other Traditional systems of medicines

To boost Ayurveda and other Traditional systems of medicine, India and Angola signed a country-level MoU. The MoU exchanged by Dr S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India and Tete Antonio, Foreign Minister of Angola on 03 May in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Angola, Joao Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.

The MoU will promote education, regulation, trade, and mutual recognition of qualifications and pharmacopoeias while encouraging expert exchange, joint research, and the safe use of traditional medicine.

President of Angola Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco was on a state visit to India from 01-04 May 2025. President Lourenco participated in a business event in New Delhi, aimed at promoting investment and commercial linkages between the two countries.

The visit of the President of Angola to India was after 38 years.  India and Angola enjoy warm and friendly relations built over the years. The bilateral relations are underpinned by a vibrant energy partnership. Bilateral trade between the two countries has been growing and reached US$ 4.192 billion during 2023-2024.
