After the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April 2025 in Jammu and Kashmir, heads of different countries shared their solidarities. Nearly 26 people have killed with open firing on a tourist place.

In the daily media briefing, Spokesperson of Foreign Ministry of China, Guo Jiakun answered various questions asked by journalists.

In 23 April when journalist from PTI asked, to the spokesperson that several people were killed in a very brutal attack in Jammu and Kashmir of India on Tuesday. Several world leaders, including President Trump, President Putin and others, condemned and offered support to India to fight terrorism. Does China have any comment on this?

The reply from Guo Jiakun came, “China noted the reports. We strongly condemn the attack. China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism. We mourn for the lives lost and express sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured.”

In 28 April 2025 journalist from China News Service asked, “Ministry of External Affairs of India noted that it will organize pilgrimages to Mount Gang Renpoche and Lake Mapam Yun Tso in Xizang Autonomous Region of China from June to August this year. Does this mean that China has agreed to resume the pilgrimage? Do you have any comment on this?

Spokesperson Jiaku’s reply came Indian pilgrimage to Mount Gang Renpoche and Lake Mapam Yun Tso in Xizang Autonomous Region of China is an important part of the cultural and people-to-people exchange between the two countries. Mount Gang Renpoche and Lake Mapam Yun Tso are the “sacred mountain and lake” for believers of several religions, including Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism. As agreed between China and India, the pilgrimage will resume this summer. The two sides are advancing relevant preparations at the moment.

He further answering said, this year marks the 75th anniversary of China-India diplomatic ties. China stands ready to work with India to earnestly implement the important common understandings between the leaders of the two countries and advance China-India relations on the track of sound and stable development.

Journalist from AFP asked on 29 April 2025, “Gunfire exchanges between the Indian and Pakistani troops continued again last night after the attack of tourists in Kashmir. Does China plan on stepping in to mediate?”

Guo Jiakun briefed, “Both India and Pakistan are important countries in South Asia. Their harmonious coexistence is vital to the peace, stability and development of the region. As the neighbor of the two countries, China calls on the two sides to exercise restraint, properly handle differences through dialogue and consultation, and jointly keep the region peaceful and stable.”

Earlier question asked by RIS Novosti, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said in an interview with RIA Novosti that Russia and China may participate in the international investigation of the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Does China plan to do so?

Spokesperson of Foreign Ministry Guo Jiakun answered, “China welcomes all measures that will help cool down the current situation and supports carrying out fair and just investigations at an early date. As the neighbor of both India and Pakistan, China hopes that India and Pakistan will exercise restraint, work in the same direction, handle relevant differences properly through dialogue and consultation, and jointly uphold peace and stability in the region.”
