India to Mourn on 26 April 2025 on the day of the funeral of Pope Francis

Tens of thousands queued to pay their respects to Pope Francis at St Brasilica, Vatican City on Thursday. People gathered in queue to see the Pontiff, whose body was kept in an open Coffin.

The funeral of Pope Francis, will be held on Saturday, 26 April, 2025. The State Mourning shall be observed on that day. On Saturday, the National Flag will be flown at Half Mast throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment.

The Government of India had announced three-Day State Mourning, as a mark of respect on the passing away of the Supreme Pontiff of the Holy See. Two days’ State Mourning was observed on 22 April and 23 April, 2025 and one day State Mourning will be observed on the day of the funeral.

Pope died on Monday at the age of 88 due to a stroke. Because of double Pneumonia he was kept in hospital for five weeks earlier this year.
