‘Apricot Blossom Festival 2025’ is underway in Kargil….

The Department of Tourism Kargil recently organized Apricot Blossom Festival-2025, at Sanjak village The festival is attracting tourists from all corners and will continue till 21 April.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse was the chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho was the guest of honour. The others who attended the event were Chief Horticulture Officer, Ali Raza, In-charge SDM Shakar Chiktan, Ali Musa and Assistant Tourist Officer, Rasool Lal.

Tourists from various parts of the country, video bloggers, village community members, folk artists and villagers were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner/CEO, Shrikant Suse emphasized the significance of these culturally enriching programmes. He highlighted the unique tourism potential of regions rich in linguistic, cultural and ethnic diversity. He added that it will offer tourists an exceptional experience of hospitality and vibrant cultural traditions.

Suse highlighted the region’s strong tourism appeal, stating that the festival will send out a positive message to the rest of the world. He further said that along with the unique landscapes of Ladakh, tourists during the festival will also have an interest to have a glimpse of local tradition, culture and food.

Kachori affirmed the District Administration’s commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure in the region, emphasizing continued support and efforts to enhance tourism growth and development in Kargil.

This celebration of culture and nature offers a unique opportunity to experience Kargil’s spring-time beauty, traditional music, food and hospitality.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho congratulated the Tourism Department for organizing the programme on the onset of summer after the long harsh winter in the region.

Kacho also requested the tourists to promote Kargil as a tourist destination and act as ambassadors of Kargil in their respective areas as a result, more and more tourists will visit Kargil in coming years.

He also appreciated the artists, the local community and other participants for their active participation in the event. During the event, colourful cultural programmes were presented by artists, student that enthralled the audience.

The Deputy Commissioner along with the ADC inspected the stalls that were set up by various Government Departments. Earlier, the welcome speech was delivered by Assistant Tourist Officer Kargil, Ghulam Rasool Lal.

The Apricot Blossom Festival is being held across the district Kargil from 11-21 April 2025, during which visitors can witness mesmerising blossom of apricot trees and display of its products.

The vibrant bloom of apricot flowers celebrated across various locations, beginning in Sanjak on 11 April, followed by Garkone on 13 April, Hardass on 15 April.

Further the bloom will be celebrated in Shilikchey on 17 April, and Gongma Minji on 19 April. The festival will then conclude in Karkitchhu on 21 April.
