Operation Brahma: Indian Army establishes a 200-bedded Hospital Facility

The Indian Army Field Hospital comprising a 118-member team of Airborne Angels from the elite Shatrujeet Brigade which had been airlifted by two IAF C-17 Heavy Lift aircraft, have successfully established a 200 bedded facility at Mandalay, Myanmar on Tuesday. The facility is capable of critical surgery and in-patient care.

The Field Hospital was visited by Myo Aung, the Chief Minister of Mandalay and is fully geared and ready to provide emergency medical care to the people affected by the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake, which struck on 28 March 2025.

More than 2700 confirmed dead and hundreds of missing. So death toll may increase according to a CNN International report. The conditions of the injured in the quake are very very critical. Rescue teams are facing problem to extricate survivors. Some buildings are still collapsing after 5 days of the tremors.

Myanmar still needs help and support from around the world. The mission under Operation Brahma exemplifies India’s commitment to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and its timeless civilisational value of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The World is One Family) while reaffirming solidarity with our neighbours in times of crisis.
