The Ministry of Defence has signed two contracts worth Rs 62,700 crore with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru for 156 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) Prachand—66 for the Indian Air Force and 90 for the Indian Army.

Deliveries will start in three years and span of five years, boosting combat capabilities at high altitudes. With over 65% indigenous content, the deal involves 250+ domestic companies, mostly MSMEs, generating 8,500+ jobs.

Additionally, a contract was signed with Metrea Management for the wet lease of a KC-135 Flight Refuelling Aircraft (FRA) to train IAF & Navy pilots. With these, the total defence contracts for 2024-25 reach 193, valued at Rs 2,09,050 crre—the highest ever, with 92% awarded to Indian industry.
