The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials have arrested a passenger who had arrived in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai from Nairobi for allegedly smuggling cocaine worth Rs 26.62 crore.

Acting on the intelligence report, the DRI officers intercepted the passenger. They examined the passenger thoroughly. Examination of the handbag in his possession revealed that drugs were expertly concealed between the outer and inner layers of the handbag on each side.

The officials of DRI recovered cocaine weighing 2662 grams. According to sources, it is valued at Rs 26.62 crore. Seizing operation was done under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs & Psychotrophic Substances (NDPS) Act,1985 . The passenger was immediately arrested and  further investigation is going on.
