The mishap happened when a large number of people gathered at the Tirupati Temple to have the annual Vaikunt Dwara Darshanam. Around 6 people died in the incident. It is suspected that the stampede may have happened due to buying the tickets to enter for the Darshan.
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu condoled the incident saying it deeply disturbed him.
