The President of India Droupadi Murmu graced as the chief guest in the 75th Anniversary Celebration of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya (GAM) today at Puri, Odisha.
Speaking on the occasion President Murmu said she visited the Jagannatha Temple and prayed for the wellbeing of the people of Odisha and the whole country. For me it’s always been a spiritual experience when I pay a visit to Lord Jagannatha, she said.
Appreciating the College President said, Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, as an Ayurvedic Institution is having a special position in eastern India. Students after passing out from the college get good fame not only in India, but around the world.
She further said that she is happy to know patients from all parts of the country benefited from getting the treatment here.
President Murmu thanked both the State and Central Government for providing grant for the development of the college. She said, “I am happy to know that there are more female students and female faculties compared to male students and male faculties here.”

She said that from Arts to Science, Medical Science to Ayurveda science and Army to Security, our girls add their names in every field.
Focusing on the technology she said if a country will not go forward with advancement of technology, then it will not reach the goal. This is the age of Science and technology. Learning of artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing, 3D printing, and coding help for the development. So identify today for the development of tomorrow.
Being a futuristic President said, “After the completion of your study with giving service to the patients, you will be doing more and more research in Ayurveda Science. The more the research will be, the more multidimensional facets will come”.
Governor of Odisha Raghubar Das, Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi, Ayush Minister Prataprao Ganapatrao Jadhav, MP Sambit Patra and Principal of GAM, Puri Prof Arun Kumar Das were present on the occasion.
Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Puri is one of the oldest and distinguished Ayurvedic Medical Colleges of the country. The Institution was established in the Year 1949. At first it was named as Gopabandhu Ayurvedic Institute and later on Gopabandhu Ayurveda Vidyapitha, Puri and again in the Year 1971 it was renamed as Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya.
