Prime Minister Narendra Modi today condoled the loss of lives in the Jhansi Medical college in Uttar Pradesh. He assured that under the state government’s supervision, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way.
In a post on X, PM wrote:
Heartbreaking! The incident of fire in the Medical College of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their innocent children. We pray to God to give them the strength to bear this immense sorrow. As per report on Friday evening at least 10 new born babies burnt to death in a state medical college hospital in Jhansi. Around 54 infants were admitted in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Maharani Laxmibai Medical College and Hospital, Jhansi.
According to the Medical Superintendent fire broke out fast as the room was highly oxygenated. Many infants were rescued, but 10 of them died, others are undergoing treatment.
