New Delhi || 14-11-2024 Spiritual and Motivational Guru Sadhguru launched a book “Azerbaijan- Inspired by Nature” at the 29th United Nation’s Climate Change Conference(COP29), Baku, Azerbaijan on 13 Nov 2024. The book is compiled by Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Addressing the gathering Sadhguru talked about the importance of Healthy Soil in mitigating climate change and food & nutrition crisis globally.
He said “one important thing that needs to happen is more land should go under shade. The tropical land should go  under shade as much as possible, may be trees, may be bushes, may be cover crops, something should cover the land”.
He further said 18% more carbon dioxide is generated from the soil than every other industry on the planet. Yes Fossil fuel is a problem, people are digging and drilling to get oil, because these are needed for use. But all these talks for the last 25 years we are not covering the 3% requirement of energy for the alternative energies. The 97% bridge of energy when are going to be built?, how are we going to do this? Unless there is some massive technological innovations this is not going to happen,”
Continuing his thoughts on soil Sadhguru said “When we say soil, 95% of life of this planet depends on this soil, 60% of the species live in the soil, 54% of the world’s human population everyday work on the soil, so how come we are not interested in this? If 10% of the climate mitigation budget will be dedicated to soil to incentivize the farmer, to raise the organic content of the soil, within 10 to 15 years there will be significant turn around”.
Sadhguru said “There are only two sources of organic matter on this planet: plant life and animal life, nothing else. Both these organisms enhance the organic matter of the soil.”
At last he stressed on saving the soil for our future generations. The “Save Soil” movement is initiated by Sadhguru to address the soil crisis by uniting people across the globe to stand up for soil health.
