New Delhi || 01-11-2024 Renowned Economist and Chairman of Prime Minister’s Economic Council Dr Bibek Debroy passed away today due to the Intestinal obstruction. He was 69.
Dr Debroy was a multi-talented personality. His domain includes not only economics but also history, culture, spirituality and more.
After schooling at West Bengal’s Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur, he studied at Kolkata’s Presidency College and Delhi School of Economics.
On a Trinity College Scholarship, he went to University of Cambridge for further studies.
Dr Debroy remained in various key positions in his illustrious career. which include the Director of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, Chairman of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, Secretary-General of PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Director of the project LARGE (Legal Adjustments and Reforms for Globalising the Economy), set up by the Finance Ministry and UNDP for examining legal reforms in India.
Dr Bibek Debroy’s name also synonyms with History, Arts and Culture. He wrote many books, research papers and articles for many leading newspapers.
He also did nearly 33 episodes of a Series called ‘Itihasa’ for Sansad TV. In those episodes key focus was Indian Religions, Temples and Spirituality, which was admirable.
